A Day in Kyoto: Part 2 - Fushimi Inari Shrine

After Kinkakuji, inkwraith and I went to Fushimi Inari Shrine, dedicated to the god of rice, whose messenger is the fox. This shrine is most famous for all of the torii gates. It was a beautiful, haunting place and my pictures do not do it justice.

Here is a preview:

The big torii right next to the station leading up to the shrine.

Main gate and building thing.

The grounds before you start on the main torii paths.

Foxes!

I don't know what most of these buildings are for, but they're pretty.

None of my pictures can really show just how many torii there were there. Totally wow.

Beautiful hiking path up Inarisan mountain.

The torii hiking paths were littered with tiny shrines, which were all very cool.

A view over the city from high up on the mountain.

It was getting dark and Lotus got a bit creeped out by all the fox statues staring at her like she was lunch.

Such a lovely place. Owari.
