Saturday, after work, I went to this big party with all of the teachers at my school (whoo hoo, all three of us plus the manager) and about two dozen students. It was a combination Welcome party for me and Farewell parter for the manager. I'll miss the manager, Emi. She's helped me out so much and made everything about living here easier for me! Wah! Anyway, we went to an izakaya and got the party room where I tried all sorts of new Japanese foods that I've never hear of before, watched my students get rather drunk, and got a bit tipsy myself. I had to run for the last train home (it's really silly for them to stop running trains at midnight, I mean, honestly). It was an altogether fun time.
But I had even more fun on Sunday when I met up with withinity to go to the Volks store and generally hang out. I was rather proud of myself for navigating not just the Hankyu trains (which is the system I use to commute to work every day on) but also two different subway lines (the red one and the pink one, which have actual names, but I forgot them). I couldn't ask for a better guide and new friend than withinity! She showed me all around downtown Osaka, including this really big shopping area called Shinsaibashi. Anyway, the Volks store was cool, and I was VERY tempted by the white skin DDIIs that they had laying about, but I managed to restrain myself to only one outfit purchase. And it's an awesome outfit!
Thank you SO MUCH, Dezarii, for showing me around! You rock. And I hope that we can get together again soon. Remember, next time it is my turn to buy the ice cream! *HUGGLES* ^_____________^
This is one of the views I have on my walk to work in the morning.
Another view of my walk to the station. You can see the station at the top there. It takes me about 20 minutes to get from my apartment next to Osaka Airport to Hankyu Sone Station.
This is the view outside my classroom window.
I work in Juso, on the 7th floor of a building right on the major intersection where the station lets out and Friendly Street starts.
One of my younger students drew a picture of me on the white board. Maybe the bear-thing is my imaginary friend?
This is a comic that one of my adult students drew. It has some bad grammer, but it's actually pretty good! I like it and I'm glad he gave it to me. ^_^
These are more pictures of my walk, this time on the way home. However, I usually get home well after 11pm, so think of this street as very dark. XD
What is a pocari and why would I want to drink it's sweat?!? (I know, I know, cliche, but I just couldn't resist...)
This is a tiny shrine that is right near my apartment building. In front of the building is a small field/garden and I think maybe this shrine is devoted to it? Or something? Dunno.
Now we shall take a tour of my apartment! It's actually pretty nice, all things considered.
The view from the front door.
The first door as you enter leads to the toilet.
My kitchen is next. I have a cupboard, a fridge, a microwave, a toaster oven, a rice cooker, a stove top with two burners, and a sink. Pretty swanky!
On the other side of my kitchen is the clothes washer and the washroom.
Note my new Hello Kitty towel, which I bought in Shinsaibashi yesterday! The cuteness! *g*
Now we shall go into my living room. I have a table (which I don't use, so it is covered with junk) and two chairs. Also, please not the pictures of my neice and newphew on that wall. There should be more pictures there. So. You will all send me pictures of yourself and other cool things so that I can decorate my wall. @_@ <---my swirly eyes of DOOM compel you!
This is where I am sitting typing this right now. As you can see, I have a television, but I have unplugged it to hook up my trusty laptop. *coos at the beautiful laptop* Also, you can see my small dolls displayed above my laptop screen. I repose them a lot and play with them while things are loading. Heh. Oh! And there is also the Wall of Doll. If you have dolls, you should also send me pretty pictures of them so that I can fill up my wall. It would make me happy if you sent me pictures. I am all alone and filled with DREADFUL WOE over being so far from home! Send pictures! (Did my guilt trip work? Are you going to send me pictures? *g*)
Anyway, here is a view out my balconey. That's a sports field behind my apartment building. So far I have noted people playing cricket and baseball there. Also, see that white stuff? It's SNOW. Eeek, cold! Fortunately, it doesn't snow much at all here, which is good.
If we go up he ladder next to the door into the living room we enter my loft, which contains my trusty futon. Regard the futon in all of it's pink, fluffy glory!!! The first few days, I kept bumping my head everytime I got up in the morning...
My BJDs live up in the loft, because there is a perfect doll-loft built in.
My three little hoodlums. Are they wonderful! Olwyn and Clover are wearing the new outfit I got yesterday at the Volks store. That blue hoodie is so cute!
Lotus is asleep (as she always is) on my doll futon. With the kitty angel to look after her! Hehehe~!
Here is a picture of Olwyn, Ellette, and withinity's Isidore at the ice cream shop yesterday.
Isn't Isidore pretty?!
Look! It's Angel's Japanese cousin! *giggles*
Here is the Giant Hello Kitty that was in the Sanrio store we went to yesterday. That was such a cool store! Yay, cuteness!
Okay, I'm bored with posting now. *wanders away*
