A thousand internet points to whoever can guess what it is from!!!
(Here's a non-hint: My new LJ Name has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Aren't I helpful?)
Actual content, yeah.
Okay, here goes: Do you know about NEETs? They are, apparently, a big (and growing) problem in Japan and, according to my students, they are mostly 30-year-old manga otaku men who live with their parents and won't leave their rooms and make their moms bring them their food. *shrugs*
Um. I've been a very very bad teacher this last week. Instead of teaching, I've been chatting. I'm just depressed, I think. But in many of my classes this week we didn't even crack open the textbooks. I have to do better...
There is a manga that one of my students described to me that sounds pretty cool, but I can't figure out what it's called. He said it's called "JAPAN" (pronounced the old fashioned way, "Jipang"), but neither of the two series that I found by that title sound like what he described. It's supposed to be about a modern Japanese ship (he swore it wasn't a military ship because "Japan doesn't have a Navy" but it sure sounded like one to me) that gets thrown back in time somehow to World War II, where it tries to avoid changing the outcome of the war and tries to find a way home. Just, you know, wondering if anyone has heard of this and happens to know if it's scanlated...?
